St Paul’s Cathedral is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Assistant Director of Music to join our esteemed Music Department at an exciting and pivotal time in our history.
The Assistant Director of Music will play a key role in the musical life of the Cathedral, working closely with the Director of Music and alongside the Organist, to enhance and develop our liturgical life, and particularly to support the training of the Girl Choristers and the Cathedral Choir. There will also be a significant administration element to this role.
The successful candidate will have:
* Significant and demonstrative experience as a choral conductor, used to working with both children and adults;
* An in-depth knowledge of vocal technique and how to develop young voices;
* Excellent leadership and communication skills with a track record of inspiring and motivating singers and others;
* A commitment to music in worship and the tradition of Anglican choral music;
* Experience of line management and performance reviews would be beneficial in this post.
Whilst we encourage applications from those who play the organ, there is no requirement for the successful candidate to be an organist.
The successful candidate will also be expected to share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
