Position: Visiting Teacher of Music (Violin) Location: On site, Westbury-on-Trym BS9 3BA Salary: £23.45 per 40 minute lesson Hours: The number of lessons will depend on demand and cannot be guaranteed. Currently the number of pupils would be around four. The closing date for this position will be Friday 14 March 2025 Interviews will be taking place during week commencing Monday 24 March We are currently looking for a Visiting Teacher of Violin to join Badminton School on a fixed term basis for one term initially. There are around 20 Visiting Music staff on site at Badminton teaching a range of keyboard, Orchestral and Band instruments as well as voice and lessons include teaching pupils from GCSE grade to A levels. Main Responsibilities: • To stimulate and foster enthusiasm for Violin playing within the school • Contribute to the teaching of the department as set out in the timetable • Prepare lessons taking account of the pupils’ abilities • Identify, encourage and help to realise each pupil’s potential • Employing good subject knowledge, become fully acquainted with the appropriate specifications and exam boards and carry out the requirements thereof • To keep abreast of all developments in your subject • Manage the teaching environment in a way conducive to successful learning and the maintenance of good pupil discipline, making use of sanctions and rewards in line with school policies • Check the attendance of and keep necessary records for groups taught • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of pupils with special needs and facilitate their work accordingly • Set work regularly for all pupils, in accordance with departmental guidelines • To support the Departmental Development Plan • As appropriate, be aware of all departmental and school health and safety requirements including relevant risk assessments and contribute to their development as necessary • To always behave with an awareness of the ambassadorial role that teaching at Badminton entails • To support the School’s Development Plan • To attend meetings as required • To undertake any other task reasonably requested by the Head/ Director of Music To be considered for this position we are ideally looking for a candidate with experience teaching Violin, relevant qualifications and a proven track record of building rapport with young people. Additionally, we are looking for the following: • Candidates who can demonstrate a clear understanding of music examination boards, including ABRSM and Trinity • The right person will be organised, punctual and efficient in organising their workload and managing their time efficiently • You will be thorough in preparing lessons and in assessing and monitoring student progress • Ability to work under pressure • Experience with young people and should have knowledge of how to enthuse, lead and manage teams and groups • You will have good social skills as well as a smart appearance What We Offer: • Additional benefits: free lunch, free onsite parking, use of the school gym and heated swimming pool (at designated times) and access to free fitness classes are all included • Pension scheme membership (including life cover) Applicants should be aware that all email communication with HR will be sent via Eteach.
