About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Digital & Data Product Manager who will work with a cross-functional team (product designers, engineers, data analysts) to ensure all ways of working within the squad are optimised to deliver at the right pace and quality.
You will sit within our SMR (Service, Maintenance and Repair) business unit contributing towards the evolution of RAC’s digital and data strategy and transformation, collaborating with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product.
The successful candidate will have experience in data strategy and modelling. You will be expected to lead in translating complex data needs into clear requirements for data engineering teams and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role, working 2 days a week from either our Bradley Stoke or Bescot office and 3 days a week at home.
Role Purpose
* Set the desired commercial and customer outcomes for your area of influence – working with key stakeholders to ensure they align with commercial strategy.
* Define the product strategy and roadmap that will give us the optimal chance to achieve those outcomes.
* Use product discovery best practice to ensure we make the most from our development resource; turn open-ended problems into well-defined roadmaps; and to assess any ideas and potential deliverables for potential risks of usability, viability, feasibility and compliance/ contractual.
* Develop detailed requirements for key features, working closely with a range of stakeholders, including commercial and group stakeholders and delivery teams.
* Post launch evaluation of all activity against our objectives, and optimisation based on usage and insight.
* Stay abreast of key trends in digital and data and keep ahead of the industry and what our competitors are doing.
Key role responsibilities
* Experience of owning a complex experience (a whole app; website; or large feature set) the product lifecycle – from ideas and discovery through to prioritisation, definition, delivery and post launch evaluation. Demonstrating sound decision making at each stage
* Sufficient understanding of software development processes and design principles to be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical team; and to assess the implications of technical decisions on the product strategy and user experience.
* Track record of defining and delivering great customer and commercial outcomes – and adept at balancing the two.
* High level product sense: leveraging data, research and other insights, to understand our customer needs and how they can best be fulfilled.
* Effective verbal and written communication: able to convey ideas and technical content to different stakeholders, from engineers to senior executives.
* Understanding of the regulatory environment that the RAC operates in and the key checks and balances that are required in the product development process to ensure we remain compliant.
