Job Purpose
To generate new business relationships and opportunities leading to pre-qualifications, tenders, and negotiations in line with sales targets and key opportunity criteria.
Main Responsibilities
* Understanding of the construction industry
* Client meetings, developing client and consultant relationships, which are crucial to the business to influence and secure opportunities by providing valuable feedback to the business
* Generating leads and securing key opportunities for the business
* Researching leads and clients
* Identifying new potential key clients for the business
* Presenting opportunities to Directors
* Attending industry events and representing the contractor
* Managing pipeline and ensuring deadlines are met
* Assisting in tenders/bids
* Staying up-to-date with the market, standards, and any issues affecting the business or future projects
* Developing and maintaining a high-level individual profile in the industry
* Developing a strategic approach to business development, focused on activity within relevant sectors
* Managing the production of media to support target sectors, projects, or framework presentations or meetings
* Attending, facilitating, and presenting Preconstruction Meetings and general Business Development Meetings
Key Skills Required
* Desirable experience as a Business Development Manager in Construction or Civil Engineering, but transferable skills from other careers are also welcome
* Must have the right to live and work in the UK
* UK business development experience in the UK (ideally within construction or civil engineering)
