Position Summary:
This individual works within the Facilities Department to perform maintenance on all CNC equipment, coordinate and support plant preventative maintenance systems, and implement continuous improvement activities to support the manufacturing process. The CNC Service Technician reports to the Machine Maintenance Manager and must work well in a team environment. This individual must collaborate effectively with other trades, disciplines, facilities personnel, and always keep in mind that our goal is to support manufacturing, production, and all other internal customers. This is a hands-on position.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. The CNC Service Technician must have the ability to accurately diagnose, replace/repair, predict, and prevent potential equipment failure to minimize downtime.
2. This position will also perform preventative maintenance and help in continually developing our preventative maintenance program.
3. Installs and repairs hydraulic, coolant, or air systems associated with the machine.
4. Repairs or replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other machine-related equipment.
5. Must be able to work on several projects at a time to meet the needs of a rapidly changing environment.
6. Ability to properly troubleshoot the failure of mechanical components.
7. Good communication skills, ability to follow directions, and works well in either an individual or team environment.
8. Familiarity with all required safety practices associated with the job and follow safety procedures, security protocol, and wear proper PPE.
9. Knowledge of CNC controls and drives, electrical power distribution.
10. An understanding and commitment to preventative maintenance.
11. Ability to effectively utilize vendors and outside contractors.
Education and/or Experience:
1. 5–7 years of maintenance experience on CNC equipment.
2. High School Diploma.
3. Technical School or College Diploma a plus.
4. Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to stay calm during stressful situations.
7. Must have experience and knowledge pertaining to maintaining production CNC mills, lathes, mill-turns, broaches, and similar machines.
8. Knowledge of automatic tool changers and pallet systems.
9. Ball screw & axis support bearing replacement & alignment.
10. Spindle replacement and repairs.
11. Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair.
12. Turret repair and alignment.
13. Must have a strong ability to read mechanical drawings and part prints.
14. Electrical and electronic troubleshooting background.
15. Ability to read and follow ladder and wiring diagrams.
16. Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies.
17. Control experience with Fanuc, Siemens as well as other PLC experience is necessary.
18. 220/480 volt knowledge and experience.
19. Troubleshooting knowledge and experience.
20. Dependable – more reliable than spontaneous.
21. Adaptable/flexible – enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction.
22. Predictive maintenance, ball bar calibration, vibration analysis.
Working Conditions:
1. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
2. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
3. This position may require standing for long periods of time, working frequently on ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
4. Working in dusty, dirty, hot, or wet conditions and possibly confined spaces.
5. Work can include being outside or on rooftops during inclement weather conditions.
6. This position must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7.
