An opportunity has arisen for an experienced supervisor to join the Domestic Services department. The role of the domestic supervisor is critical in ensuring that the required standards of cleaning within a healthcare environment are adhered to.
A can-do attitude is key. Knowledge and experience of supervising a cleaning service is essential, and any such experience with healthcare would be beneficial. The ability to work as part of a large team is also essential, as is the need for flexibility to meet the ever-changing needs of the service.
08:00 am to 14:00 pm - 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing direct supervision and organization of a team of domestic staff.
2. Arranging cover for absences and facilitating adjustments of work schedules to meet service exigencies.
3. Ensuring all staff work to trust policies and are properly instructed and trained in standard operating methods, equipment, and techniques.
4. Supervising the performance of staff to ensure adherence to approved standard operating procedures.
5. Ensuring the team operates at the highest standards of customer care, safety, and efficiency.
6. Completing relevant documentation for absences within the supervision team.
7. Sanctioning domestic holidays while adhering to agreed levels.
8. Following procedures for cleaning requests from Infection Control and ensuring documentation is correct.
9. Attending all relevant/mandatory training courses, even if outside normal shift times.
10. Supporting staff and facilitating effective induction and job-specific training.
11. Arranging short-term absence cover to ensure all areas are covered.
12. Liaising with service users and local managers over service delivery concerns.
13. Completing regular quality control checks and facilitating remedial action.
14. Planning and delivering specific cleaning tasks.
15. Conducting risk assessments for complex cleaning processes.
16. Reporting accidents and defects with machinery or buildings.
17. Monitoring and controlling the usage and storage of cleaning consumables.
18. Conducting staff interviews, including appraisals and grievances.
19. Maintaining ongoing appraisals and personal development plans of staff.
20. Demonstrating leadership and acting as a role model.
The post-holder will support the management team for Domestic Services at the Trust.
