SEN Learning Support Assistant

This is a specialist setting catering for pupils aged 3-19 who have severe and complex Learning Needs (SLD/PMLD).
No experience is needed as in-house training will be provided.
We are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to join our hardworking and friendly team, working to support our special needs children aged 3-19 years covering a whole range of complex needs including ASD, SLD, PMLD, and challenging behaviour.
The school offers a bespoke curriculum that focuses on a pupil's immediate learning needs and long-term aspirations, creatively exploring ways to remove barriers to engagement and learning. There is a significant focus on the development of functional communication and emotional regulation (readiness to learn), including the importance of meeting sensory integration needs. A wide range of evidence-based strategies is used to meet the needs of our pupils, and we work collaboratively with a range of therapists to support a holistic approach to our pupils' development.
General Duties:
* Understand specific learning needs and styles and provide differentiated support to pupils individually and within a group.
* Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses as appropriate.
* Establish positive relationships with pupils supported.
* Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher.
* Support pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy skills.
* Attend to pupils' personal needs including help with social, welfare, care, and health matters, including toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility, etc.
* Carry out specific additional care tasks for individual pupils only at the direction of a suitably qualified member of staff and once full training has been given.
* Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task.
* Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required.
* Assist with the development and implementation of IEP/EHCP.
* Respect confidentiality at all times.
* Comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace.
