Job Summary
As a Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care and services to support individuals and teams within Swindon. Working within a collaborative environment, you will provide essential services tailored to meet the unique needs of those we serve.
Based at Swindon, you will have the flexibility to work within a model that supports both on-site and hybrid working arrangements, depending on the nature of the role. Main Duties of the Job
As a Specialist Learning Disability Physiotherapist, your responsibilities will include:
1. Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist physiotherapy interventions for patients with learning disabilities that are patient-centred and in consultation with the service user as part of their overall care plan. This may include musculoskeletal, neurological, and falls.
2. Taking a lead role in the management of the general physical well-being of service users.
3. Applying specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of those with profound and complex needs and those who challenge services.
4. Contributing to the planning, organisation, and maintenance and leadership of professional networks and interest groups to maintain and develop professional practice.
5. Keeping patient clinical records and statistics as per trust and professional guidelines with the use of information technology ensuring timely, contemporaneous and accurate records.
6. Working as a fully integrated member of the multi-professional team using the care plan/recovery planning approach.
7. Participating in training of self and others as relevant to the post.
8. Providing leadership and supervision to designated junior staff ensuring that they receive advice and support and that the delegation of tasks is appropriate to his/her abilities and grade.

Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
* Has a Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
* Is a Member of the Health Care Profession Council.
* Has significant demonstrable post-registration experience functioning as a Band 5 practitioner.
* Has evidence of continuing professional development.
* Has knowledge of Learning disabilities.
* Has knowledge of postural management.
* Understands multi-professional team working and can promote the role of the Physiotherapist within that.
* Can demonstrate the application of physiotherapeutic interventions in a variety of settings.
* Is flexible and able to adapt to change/unpredictable circumstances.
* Able to work independently.
* Possesses highly developed communication skills both in writing and verbally.
* Has knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Is a clinical educator or willing to undertake training, able to demonstrate the ability to teach and advise others.
* Can demonstrate highly effective clinical knowledge and apply it within the supervision process.
* Can show initiative within the parameters of effective team working and evidence-based practice.
* Can contribute effectively to the strategic development of services.
* Is independently mobile across geographical areas.
Desirable:
* Experience of working with clients in community settings.
