About the Job
The Head of Indirect Tax plays a key role within the Tax department. Indirect taxes are a key component of ASOS’s supply chain and require proactive management to ensure compliance in a fast-changing global landscape. ASOS has created this role to support the Director of Tax in overseeing and supporting the indirect tax agenda, due to the increase in strategic planning and business partnering required going forwards.
What you’ll be doing….
1. Leading a team to manage the indirect tax (and customs) agenda through legislative changes, digitisation requirements and business changes and ensure ongoing compliance.
2. Work with the Director of Tax, Head of Customs Operations and Head of Tax Transformation to implement an improved strategy for the management of Indirect Taxes for ASOS, including planning and compliance for ASOS’s exposures to Sales Taxes, VAT, Import Duties, Digital Taxes and similar levies globally.
3. Monitoring the impact of Indirect Taxes on ASOS’s balance sheet and income statement and ensuring accurate accounting and regular balance sheet reconciliations.
4. Proactive solutions to reduce the working capital impact of Indirect Taxes, including successful interactions with our business units in supply chain restructurings.
5. Lead indirect tax compliance, including making tax digital requirements, working with external consultants where required to ensure timely and accurate submission of relevant returns in all jurisdictions in which the group does business.
6. Lead ongoing external tax audits of applicable taxes in all relevant jurisdictions.
7. Maintain and enhance the indirect tax compliance and reporting processes within the financial reporting system; troubleshoot tax-related problems within the ERP and identify solutions for internal business partners
8. Identify and implement indirect tax planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies
9. Provide ad hoc analysis/projects as requested by management

Qualifications
About You
11. Extensive experience of indirect tax in consulting and/or industry including international experience (ideally including EU and US)
12. ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent qualification
13. Experience of dealing with customs duties would be an advantage
14. Knowledge of financial and tax systems, including experience of implementing automation solutions and ensuring compliance with digitisation requirements
15. Understanding of new taxes and compliance requirements being introduced including digital sales taxes, plastic taxes, digitisation requirements etc
16. Strong technical and analytical skills
17. Team leadership and development experience
18. Well organised, good project management skills and able to work with minimal supervision
19. Ability to manage and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of management as well as with tax and customs and other regulatory bodies
20. Excellent communicator - ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner in both written and verbal presentations
21. Someone who loves a challenge and is proactive in delivering value for the organisation
