About the Role/Role Overview
As a Pupil's Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to students across various educational settings. Your responsibility will be to assist pupils with their learning and development, ensuring that they can engage effectively in the classroom environment, overcome challenges and thrive both academically and socially. You will work closely with teaching staff and other support professionals to provide the necessary assistance to students, empowering them to achieve their goals.
Pupil’s Assistant Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, assisting with their learning, behavioural development and social skills.
* Support the class teacher in preparing learning resources, managing classroom activities and ensuring a positive learning environment.
* Help students with specific tasks, ensuring they can access the curriculum and complete assignments to the best of their abilities.
* Offer support for pupils’ emotional well-being and social interactions, encouraging positive behaviours and fostering self-confidence.
* Monitor pupils’ progress, observing and recording their development and providing valuable feedback to teachers and parents.
* Assist in implementing effective strategies to manage and encourage positive behaviour, ensuring pupils feel safe and supported.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the necessary support and resources for their success.
Pupil’s Assistant Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, is desirable. A background in child development, education, or similar fields will also be considered.
* Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar capacity, supporting children in a classroom environment, is essential.
* A genuine interest in supporting students' academic and personal development, with a strong desire to help them overcome any challenges they may face.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with students, teachers and parents.
* The ability to remain patient and calm when supporting students with diverse needs, fostering a nurturing and understanding environment.
* Strong organisational skills to manage resources, assist with classroom activities and keep accurate records of students' progress.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other support staff to ensure the needs of students are met effectively.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
