What's involved with this role: Temporary Stores Assistant – Retail Job Ref: Berneslai TCL 0009 661F / 1 Pay Rate: £12.67 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm Role Length: This opening assignment is for 5 months City: Barnsley, South Yorkshire Standard DBS disclosure required for this role The purpose of the role is to work in a warehouse environment picking, unloading deliveries (including heavy bulky items), ordering, storing, stock checking and distributing materials, plant and equipment. Key Responsibilities: Liaise with Operations Staff to plan effectively for the provision of materials, plant and equipment. Resolve queries and enquiries, chase up outstanding orders and purchases including liaising with operational staff, procurement staff, suppliers and sub-contractors. Report any damaged stock to the Stores Supervisor and assist in investigating any stock variances. Assist in regular stock checks of items within Stores, and to assist with any van stock checks as required. Be responsible for issuing and returning plant and tools to Operatives from the Plant store, maintaining an accurate computerised record and reporting any faulty items to the Stores Supervisor Maintain a computerised stock control system and assist in the development and introduction of new systems. Maintain good housekeeping, ensuring all rubbish is cleared away and all items are stored correctly ensuring health and safety procedures are followed Assist in developing and administering an effective delivery service across construction services, to deliver stock to drop off points around the borough on a rota system. Qualifications: 4 GCSE’s (Grade A-C) or equivalent qualification. NVQ Level 2, Warehousing and Storage desirable. Skills & Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Experience of working in a stores / warehouse environment. Experience of driving forklift trucks and associated mechanical handling. Knowledge of Health and Safety and Manual Handling. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
