We are seeking a reliable and efficient Scaffold/Construction Supplies Warehouse Operative to join our team. As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Warehouse Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of our construction supplies warehouse. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing construction materials and supplies to support our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Receive incoming shipments of construction supplies, materials, and equipment, and verify their accuracy against purchase orders or delivery notes.
• Unload, unpack, and inspect incoming items for damage or defects, and report any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
• Organize and store construction supplies in designated locations within the warehouse, ensuring efficient space utilization and easy access.
• Prepare and package construction supplies for delivery or pickup, ensuring proper labelling and documentation.
• Assist in inventory management by conducting regular stock counts, updating inventory records, and reconciling discrepancies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including sweeping, dusting, and arranging supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with other team members to fulfil customer orders accurately and promptly.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to safely transport construction supplies.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles, ensuring items are securely strapped or loaded to prevent damage during transportation.
• Provide general support to the warehouse team as needed.
Requirements:
• Proven work experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with construction supplies and materials is a plus.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid forklift operator’s license or willingness to obtain one.
• Commitment to safety procedures and practices.
• Experience in scaffolding would be an advantage.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
