About the Job:
* Provide high quality nursing care to patients attending the department with a focus on pediatrics.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
* Participate in evidence-based care and ensure continuity of the quality of care.
* Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives/carers.
* Act in accordance with legal and statutory guidance and comply with the Health Board's policies.
* Utilise the skills of venepuncture, cannulation, IV medication administration, triage, and apply emergency plaster casts when competent.
* Respond safely to an emergency and escalate any concerns.
* Support the department in ensuring the environment meets the required standard of cleanliness and all equipment is maintained in good working order.
* Be responsible for the support of junior colleagues.
* Demonstrate effective communication skills.
* Act as an advocate when representing the patients.
* Work as part of a large team, using delegation skills and prioritising care.
* Participate in health promotion and support the nurse in charge with care and decision making.
* Ensure all statutory and mandatory training is up to date.
* Be responsible for administering medications to patients.
* Ensure PPE is worn correctly in line with infection control guidelines.
