Job Description
Responsible for the support and sustaining of electronic test processes in a high variety, high complexity, and challenging precision electro-mechanical assembly environment. The test processes support products currently in production.
Responsibilities
1. Technical front-line support of test processes within the manufacturing cells
2. Investigate product failures and/or process problems in support of root-cause analysis as well as implement recommended robust corrective action(s) within
3. challenging deadlines
4. Perform analysis of process performance data to justify improvement actions
5. Perform regular maintenance of test fixtures
6. Perform test process updates driven by product design changes - this will include both software and hardware modification
7. Support continuous improvement activities within the supported cells(s) - the elimination of waste, reduction of product cost, and the enhancement of process controls
8. Provide the justification, technical specification and implementation plan for new process equipment
9. Have regular interaction with both product design divisions and support services within the manufacturing services division
Key requirements
10. The minimum of a HNC / Level 4 qualification in electronics and/or electrical engineering
11. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
12. Familiarisation with manual bench testing methods such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
13. Knowledge and experience of either support or development of electronics test processes, i.e. Flying Probe, ICT, functional testing
Desirable requirements
14. Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma)
15. Practitioner of lean manufacturing tools and techniques and an understanding of production metrics (productivity, efficiency, waste)
16. Practical application of cellular assembly process design, support, and improvement encompassing effective control and mistake-proofing techniques
17. Understanding of metrology, measurement techniques and calibration
18. Experience of Aeroflex 42xx or Keysight 37xx ICT Test Systems
19. A National Instruments LabVIEW/TestStand qualification supported by practical implementation experienced
Person specification
The successful applicant will have a strong technical background and be able to demonstrate success in the support and development of complex, technically challenging assembly processes. A dynamic results-driven individual, they will have clear and proven success in delivering to plan. A focused approach to waste reduction and product / process cost reduction is an essential requirement of the role together with the demonstration of effective time-management, prioritisation and decision-making skills.
