Voltempo is developing rapid DC HyperCharging solutions for a range of commercial vehicle sectors, initially here in the UK, but progressively internationally as the transport sector electrifies. The company holds several international patents, it is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK’s first eHGVs charging network.
About the Role:
We are seeking Assembly Technicians to be part of our manufacturing team responsible for assembling low voltage charging systems. This role involves working with industrial electrical components such as contactors, ACBs, MCBs, wiring harnesses, and other essential electrical assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical assembly, wiring, and mechanical integration within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
* Assemble low voltage charging systems according to engineering specifications and production schedules.
* Work with industrial electrical components including contactors, air circuit breakers (ACBs), miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), wiring harnesses, crimping and other related electrical hardware.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to ensure accurate assembly.
* Perform mechanical integration of electrical components into the charging system enclosures.
* Conduct quality checks and functional testing of assembled units to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
* Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting assembly issues, wiring errors, and component failures.
* Follow health and safety procedures, including handling of low-voltage equipment and electrical safety regulations.
* Maintain an organized workspace and adhere to 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
* Work closely with engineers, team leaders, and quality assurance personnel to improve assembly processes.
* Document and report assembly progress, issues, and improvements as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in electrical assembly, panel wiring, or industrial electrical installation.
* Familiarity with low-voltage systems, power distribution components, and industrial control equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, circuit schematics, and technical drawings.
* Experience in working with crimping, soldering, and cable routing.
* Knowledge of basic hand tools and electrical testing equipment (multi-meters, continuity testers, etc.).
* Understanding of electrical safety regulations and proper handling of low-voltage components.
* Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, low-tech manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* HNC Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Previous experience, power electronics, or electrical panel assembly.
* Certification in electrical safety or handling low-voltage equipment.
* Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
