The role The main role of a Multi Utility Team member is to safely build and maintain the gas, water and electric network infrastructure to provide a reliable supply of gas, water and electric to domestic, commercial and industrial users, to plan and within budget. The role requires work in all weather conditions at many sites across each of the company’s network, using a range of tools and equipment to install new mains or services. Team Leaders are trained to develop a disciplined approach to work safely on a wide range of utility related equipment and to decide on the approach to be taken to complete work, within given instructions, by the planning and Project Management team. The team for operational safety reasons is usually made up of two or, on occasion, three people. In addition to the high level of specialist skills required to assist the Team Leader to achieve the delivery of industry specific knowledge, including relevant legislation, safety procedures and protection of the environment. Responsibilities & accountabilities Undertake and document risk assessments. Comply with workplace health, safety & environmental practices, maintaining a safe and secure working environment. Follow engineering instructions and company procedures. Install gas, water & electric (cables) engineering assets, components and associated equipment. Operate powered tools and equipment for network operations. Locate and avoid supply apparatus and sub-structures. Comply with the New Roads and Street Works Act requirements for signing, lighting and guarding. Use approved gas detection equipment to ensure safe environment. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and employer policy. Liaise with emergency services and other statutory authorities as necessary. Participate in regular training/ learning activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge. Adhere to all Stark policies, procedures and working practices. Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do; use work equipment provided safely and co-operate with managers to provide safe systems of work. Qualifications GNO1 GNO(W) Services SHEA Gas, Water, Power Water Hygiene Use Of Winch (Cable Pulling) Specific Requirements 1. 2nd Team Member Service Laying (Gas & Water) Assist in the Installation of gas & water services up to and including 63mm to a range of domestic, commercial and industrial premises using a range of techniques including open cut, moleing and insertion. Carry out appropriate squeeze off and electrofusion pipe jointing techniques. Connect services to gas & water mains using a range of methods. Decommission services and gas meters. Install a range of gas meter housings. Reposition electrical equipotential bonding apparatus when removing a meter. 2. Team Leader Main Laying (Gas, Water & Electric) Assist in the Installation gas & water mains up to and including 355mm to a range of domestic, commercial and industrial premises using a range of techniques including open cut and directional drilling. Install LV & HV Electric Mains via Hand Lay or Winch. Install Shorting Cap Ends as required. Carry out work in deep excavations and confined spaces. Assist in butt/electro fusion jointing of gas & water mains. Assist in the Insertion of flow stopping equipment to facilitate work on pressurised mains.
