If you enjoy working closely with students to help them overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve their full potential, this could be the perfect role for you Role: Learning Mentor - Stoke-on-Trent As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting student's emotional, social, and academic development. You will work closely with students to help them develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in both their studies and personal lives. By offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support, you will help create an environment where every student can thrive. The ideal candidate for the Learning Mentor role will have a strong understanding of how to support student's well-being and personal development. You should be empathetic, approachable, and committed to helping students overcome any barriers they may face to ensure their success. Key Responsibilities of the Learning Mentor: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to develop the skills needed to succeed academically and personally. Mentor students who may be facing emotional or social challenges, offering guidance, support, and encouragement. Assist students in developing positive attitudes towards learning, increasing their motivation, and fostering self-confidence. Work closely with teachers and other support staff to identify students who require additional support and create personalised learning strategies. Provide support for students with behavioural issues or additional learning needs, helping them to manage their emotions and develop better coping strategies. Lead and facilitate activities that support student's personal development, such as study skills, stress management, and confidence-building exercises. Monitor and track student's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals. Help students with goal setting and work with them to develop action plans for achieving academic and personal goals. Act as a role model, providing a positive influence and promoting an inclusive and supportive school culture. Key Skills and Qualifications: Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or support role. Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trusting and positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students. Knowledge of student well-being, behaviour management, and pastoral support. Experience in mentoring, coaching, or similar roles is desirable but not essential. A relevant qualification in education, counselling, or youth work is advantageous but not required.
