An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join the team within Blood Sciences at St. Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight.
The ideal candidate will have previous laboratory experience in an area of Blood Sciences or Microbiology as well as an NVQ level 3 qualifications or equivalent in science, however applications would be welcomed from candidates with significant UK based laboratory experience.

Blood Sciences comprises Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood transfusion Laboratories. The department has recently been refurbished to a high standard and is fully computerised. Chemical Pathology is equipped with Beckman Coulter DxI and AU analysers and Haematology is equipped with new DxH and ACL analysers. There is also a small manual section to provide other tests. This post is expected to join our existing Team of Associate Practitioners to provide 24/7 cover across Blood Sciences and Microbiology after training and candidates should be fit and well enough to complete this requirement.
We are looking to appoint individuals who can contribute to the Service we provide to the residents of the Isle of Wight and its visitors and work proactively across the various pathology disciplines.
The Blood Sciences Laboratory currently holds UKAS accreditation. The Department holds IBMS training status and offers Specialist Portfolio and apprenticeships.
