About the Candidate
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate teaching specialist, or experienced health and care professional wanting to move into teaching to join our ambitious department at Sunderland College. The successful candidate will work in a thriving Health and Care team, which currently delivers a curriculum spanning Level 1 to HE and includes T-Level Health and adult provision. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic specialists with excellent pedagogical skills and industry knowledge or experience. We would very much welcome nursing practitioners who have a wealth of industry experience, who would be supported by us to move into teaching.
About the Role
You will be a key member of a collaborative team that focuses on providing excellent learner experiences through the quality of our teaching, learning and assessment. The successful candidates will have a passion for Health and social care and a keen desire to deliver key concepts innovatively to inspire our learners to have lifelong careers in this growing sector.
Applicants should have an appropriate related degree (or equivalent), together with experience of working within the sector. Those without a teaching qualification will need to be willing to work towards this. Within the personal statement, provide practical examples of how you fulfil the person specification.
Role Responsibilities
* Curriculum Delivery & Support: Prepare and deliver session plans, resources, and differentiated teaching strategies, using ILT and providing academic support to students.
* Assessment & Feedback: Prepare students for assessments, mark and provide feedback, maintain assessment records, and ensure quality assurance in line with guidelines.
* Student Learning Support: Provide academic and personal development support, monitor student progress, attendance, and behavior, and liaise with parents and employers as needed.
* Record Keeping & Quality Assurance: Maintain course records, participate in quality assurance processes, and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
* Professional Development & Safeguarding: Engage in continuing professional development, uphold safeguarding responsibilities, and adhere to Health and Safety policies.
* Curriculum Development & Evaluation: Contribute to curriculum development, review and evaluate course content, and collaborate on improvements and planning documentation.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant subject
* Recent experience of working in the sector
* Teaching experience is preferred but current practitioners who have had no previous teaching experience will be supported to retrain
