Job Description
As the Finance Director Sales and Aftermarket, you will have responsibility to lead all financial matters including strategic planning, commercial oversight and general financial market intelligence supporting the commercial organisation. The Finance Director, Sales and Aftermarket will work directly for the CFO and play a key leadership role and advisor to the DVP, Sales and Aftermarket providing finance, strategic, and commercial oversight. The individual will be a key contributor to the development and execution of a future state vision that aligns with strategic growth objectives, supporting delivery of the five-year strategic roadmap for the commercial organisation. This achieved through alignment to new product development, marketing excellence, customer operations and service delivery through the reliability, quality, and performance of our portfolio.
* Drives financial decision to deliver on the core strategy of the Sales and Aftermarket Organisation, including financial models and proposals for commercial investment decisions.
* Ultimate ownership of all monthly consolidated data insights for the Sales and Aftermarket organisation, financial planning process for all quarterly, annual, and strategic financial plans, including delivery of divisional board materials.
* Leads the creation and presentation of the Commercial financial strategy and data to the John Crane divisional management team and other key divisional and Smiths Group stakeholders.
* A strategic partner to the Sales and Aftermarket Global and Regional Directors and commercial teams, providing finance leadership, commercial direction and problem solving to address any fundamental challenges that may deter from growing the business both revenue and profitability.
* Manages and provides strategic oversight of the Sales and Aftermarket group with a key focus on decision making to maximise revenue growth and service centre excellence and profitability.
* Responsible to develop and use a standardized dashboard for monitoring and improving key global commercial metrics year on year.
* Collaborate with Finance Director Customer Operations and the SIOP team to add value and perspective to the inventory strategy, and overall inventory reduction planning; continuing improvements in inventory transparency and decision making.
* Support John Crane Global priorities, initiatives, and project activities including M&A and information requests as directed by the CFO.
* Works collaboratively within a matrix finance function and exerts influence over decisions which effect the consolidated reporting of the business.
* Ensure that there is an effective risk management process in place to mitigate key problems and issues within the scope of the Sales and Aftermarket function.
* Provides leadership, vision, and ensures development of the Sales and Aftermarket Finance team.
* Partner with the Global Functions including Strategy, Marketing, Legal, HR, Engineering, R&D, and IT with responsibility for providing financial insights relevant to the Sales and Aftermarket group that will ensure achievement of intended goals of the divisions five-year strategic plan.
Qualifications
* An undergraduate degree in a related field with an advanced degree or accreditation a strong plus (MBA, CPA).
* A minimum 10+ years of relevant professional experience with a strong focus on Operational / Commercial / and or Strategic Business Analysis preferably in a large multi-currency business.
* Advanced Microsoft Suite skills.
* Up to 25-35% global travel.
* Previous experience of working with a high-performing team in a multi-site, multicultural international business.
* Managerial experience and capable of collaborating & coordinating efforts of global employees at all levels.
* ERP experience in SAP and/or QAD and Microsoft Power BI.
* Minimum of five years' experience effectively leading a team.
* Demonstrated ability to persistently pursue and achieve results. Uses data / analytics to proactively monitor and review plans to deliver or exceed targets and drives continuous improvement.
* Ability to make good judgments in an increasingly complex global business by effectively sourcing and analysing critical information and making effective, timely decisions; considering the needs and impacts on business stakeholders.
* Work closely with other areas of the business to develop a clear understanding of the implications their decisions have both in the short and long term.
* Initiative-taker with flexibility and willingness to balance multiple, changing priorities and work under tight deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to influence and build strong trusted working relationships with internal and external business customers.
* Effective written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and present to executive level management.
