We have a fantastic new position for an “Assistant Building Surveyor”, working for a highly progressive Construction and Property Consultancy, based in Truro. Since landing in Devon, they have made a huge splash, winning some of the most exciting projects across the South West. Their enthusiasm and drive have won over clients, securing a project portfolio that is the envy of the competition. The business was launched to provide Project Management and PQS services working on projects ranging from £1m – £140 million. In recent years, they have brought on some fantastic clients via their modest but highly regarded Building Surveying team.
The Opportunity
They are looking to attract an experienced “Assistant Building Surveyor” to join an existing team in the Truro office.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough building, condition, and measured surveys to ensure comprehensive assessments.
* Analyse and produce detailed reports on building defects, ensuring our clients are well-informed.
* Skilfully manage claims and negotiations with loss adjusters, ultimately leading to the preparation of precise drawings and specifications for remedial work.
* Prepare meticulous schedules of dilapidations for both land and buildings, demonstrating your attention to detail.
* Offer valuable advice related to planning applications, appeals, boundary disputes, and more, contributing to informed decision-making.
* Attend in-house and external meetings with clients, local authorities, and other professionals.
* Oversee both traditional and Design & Build (D&B) projects, encompassing new builds and refurbishments.
* Excel in client management to ensure project success.
* Efficiently handle contract administration responsibilities.
* Expertly prepare comprehensive tender packages.
* Conduct diverse building surveys to support project requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
They are looking for candidates with recent Construction Consultancy experience, as well as:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent, with membership status of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CIOB, etc. (preferable).
* Good working knowledge of all aspects of building surveying and building design.
* Proven staff management skills.
* Proven client management skills, including negotiating and influencing skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proven ability to manage staff, lead, and motivate individuals and teams to achieve targets.
