You will be helping us mitigate inequality within society and reduce the involvement of children and young people in anti-social groups, gangs, and crime by helping secure funding that enables more children to attend Saturday Schools, providing life-changing character education and supporting them to transform their communities. Supporting the expansion of our programs, helping us reach new communities and more young people. Contributing to the long-term sustainability of Being the Cure, ensuring our mission continues to grow. Being part of a movement that fosters resilience, confidence, and leadership in young people. Directly influencing the success of our charity’s future through persuasive, impactful funding applications.
What are we looking for?
* Strong writing and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
* Willingness to learn about Being the Cure and translate that knowledge into compelling funding applications.
* Commitment to writing one bid every one to two months. Some bids might take 30 minutes and others much more. We anticipate that the total commitment will be a maximum of 2 hours per week and often much less.
* Commitment to attending a monthly one-hour call with our volunteer bid writer team to share wins, challenges, and learning.
* Availability for a one-time, two-hour visit to a Saturday School to connect with our mission.
What will you be doing?
Being the Cure is on a mission to empower young people through character education. We run Saturday Schools teaching the values of honesty, humility, and kindness and helping children develop resilience, confidence, and leadership skills. To grow our impact, we need volunteer bid writers to help us secure funding – and that’s where you come in! We’re looking for writers, fundraisers, or students with strong writing skills to join our volunteer team. No prior experience in bid writing is needed – just confidence in writing compelling content, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. You’ll be responsible for crafting persuasive funding applications based on research provided by Being the Cure. Bids vary in length – from short applications with a few 50-word answers to longer proposals of up to 2,000 words. Volunteers will be expected to complete a minimum of six bids per year (one every two months), ideally one per month.
