Join a specialized engineering team supporting the UK defence industry, focused on developing secure, robust solutions for high-stakes environments. This role involves working with cutting-edge technology and delivering critical projects within the defence sector.
The Design Engineer will have ownership of projects, collaborating closely with a Programme Manager to ensure successful project delivery, but will not engage in project management tasks directly.
Job Responsibilities
1. Design and develop sheet metal and CNC components for secure electronic enclosures
2. Integrate electronics into metal enclosures, ensuring compliance with military standards
3. Apply expertise in EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), vibration, and thermal management
4. Oversee and manage work with sub-contractors, ensuring quality and compliance
5. Work closely with Programme Manager to deliver complex engineering projects
Skills Required
1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in military and defence environments
2. Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, CNC machining, and electronic enclosures
3. Experience in EMC, thermal management, and vibration resistance
4. Hands-on experience with electronic integration into mechanical designs
5. Ability to manage sub-contractor relationships effectively
6. Must be able to obtain SC Clearance minimum with no issues (EG - UK National or previously secured SC Clearance or higher)
Compensation & Other Benefits
1. Competitive salary up to £55,000, dependent on experience
2. Hybrid working model (in-office 3 days minimum)
