An opportunity has arisen to join the Waveney Community Therapy Service which provides an OT led therapy service that is community-oriented for people aged 25 and over who are experiencing mental health problems.
The team provides a Monday - Friday service and offers a programme of foundation, focused and community-based group activities both outdoor and from community hubs, as well as outreach and one to one assessments and interventions for service users under the care of a Secondary Care Adult Community Mental Health Services. Groups include OT led, psychologically and therapeutically informed work and Recovery Focused Community groups that focus on community integration or re-integration as part of a person's wishes in their recovery.
The team is looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our busy team of OT's, Peer Support Workers and Assistant Practitioners. You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about OT and Community Mental Health with an interest in quality improvement for the person.

Main duties of the job
Here at the Waveney Community Therapy Service, we are looking for someone to cover maternity leave of a Band 5 Occupational Therapist. We are currently on a journey to improvement, and this is an exciting opportunity to join us in delivering the best possible care for our local community.
You will need to be enthusiastic, conscientious and do everything you can to provide patient centred care. You will work to ensure that the service is delivered safely and effectively and people using it get the support they need in a timely, recovery focused manner. You will be compassionate, empathetic and sensitive in your approach to people who may be distressed or have a challenging manner.
For newly qualified staff, we offer a Trust wide preceptorship programme. Within this role, you will need to be able to work independently and travel around the local area. You will be involved in all aspects of the OT pathway from assessment to intervention to discharge, working autonomously to provide a range of interventions both on a 1:1 basis and in group work. Within the role, you will work closely with the wider Waveney Community Mental Health Team to support with assessment of OT needs and to provide advice and guidance where required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Professional Registration with Health Care Professionals Council
Experience
* Experience working clinically in a mental health setting
Knowledge
* Basic understanding of Mental Health Act 1983 and any updates
* Specialist Knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy Assessments and interventions relevant to this client group
* Understanding of applications of brief therapies
Other
* The ability to travel independently across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney locality
