About the role
This is a hybrid role and can be based near one of our European locations, including Bar Hill and Liverpool in the UK, Hamburg in Germany, and Malmö in Sweden. The position requires regular travel to our main office and supplier sites to ensure effective collaboration and operational excellence.
We are seeking a Category Manager to drive innovative sourcing strategies, optimize purchasing practices, and deliver outstanding value to our Group Manufacturing sites across diverse product life cycles working within the Electronics, Software & Services Group Purchasing Team.
As a Category Manager, you will:
1. Lead the development and implementation of effective procurement strategies for HLA and EMS, aligning with organizational goals in technology, resources, and cost optimization; in close collaboration with key stakeholders, NPD, R&D and Product Management.
2. Build and manage a robust supply base, ensuring compliance with Group standards and securing optimal pricing and terms.
3. Drive sourcing projects, streamline RFQ processes, and maintain supply chain efficiency while managing supplier relationships through performance monitoring and business reviews.
4. Optimize inventory and ERP records for product life cycles, champion best practices in purchasing and supplier management, set measurable targets for improvement, and mitigate risk through rigorous compliance monitoring.
About you
1. Degree qualified or equivalent qualification, technical background preferred, and e.g. CIPS/MCIPS.
2. Considerable experience of working in a strategic sourcing role within a fast-paced technical environment.
3. End-to-end Purchasing expertise (strategic and operational) related to sourcing material components and assemblies for manufacturing of technical products.
4. Up-to-date category knowledge and experience in Purchasing Electronics will be an asset.
5. Experience of complex relationships and contract negotiations.
6. Experience of assessing and developing suppliers’ strengths and weaknesses.
7. Used to working with multi-functional teams, across different countries and cultures.
8. Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels, inside and outside of the organisation.
9. Strong communication (business fluent in English) and management skills to be able to drive through strategy and change.
10. Experience of ERP systems and business tools such as Oracle, Excel, Power BI.
