Our client, one of the UK's largest and most successful Surface & Highways Companies, is looking for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor in Ipswich. This opportunity involves working in a close-knit team and will lead to studying towards a degree at university, sponsored by the company, along with a generous salary up to £28,000 and a great benefits package.
The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will be working on a range of projects such as Highways, Retail, Rail, Aviation, Commercial, and Defence. The candidate should have good commercial awareness and understand the implications of decisions on the financial objectives and value of the company. The Trainee Quantity Surveyor must be able to work under pressure and manage high-volume workflows while maintaining high levels of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
1. Measuring works produced by contracting operations and subcontractors.
2. Application of Lean principles.
3. Overseeing the project life cycle from inception to completion while ensuring adherence to health, safety, and the perception of the company to our clients and staff.
4. Working as a Subcontractor on projects.
5. Carrying out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
6. Producing timely cost/value reports that monitor the financial progress of contracts.
7. Managing and complying with all Health and Safety requirements.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements
1. T-Level or HNC, HND within a construction-related discipline.
2. Excellent numeracy skills.
3. Excellent IT skills with competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Previous experience in the construction/highways industry environment.
5. Willingness to undertake a course towards a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification.
6. Understanding of the implications of decisions on the financial objectives and value of the company.
7. Full UK driving licence.
8. Commercial awareness.
