Schools across the Oldham/Rochdale area are looking for a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and efficient operation of their school premises. As a key member of the school community, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining our buildings and grounds, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. We are seeking an individual who is proactive, resourceful, and takes pride in their work, with a commitment to creating a welcoming school atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily maintenance of school facilities, including cleaning, repairs, and upkeep of the school grounds.
* Ensure the security of the school premises by locking/unlocking buildings, setting alarms, and monitoring access.
* Perform regular health and safety checks on the property and equipment, adhering to relevant regulations and reporting any issues.
* Oversee heating, lighting, and ventilation systems to ensure a comfortable environment for students and staff.
* Manage stock levels for cleaning and maintenance supplies and place orders as required.
* Liaise with external contractors for larger repairs or maintenance projects.
* Support school events by setting up and dismantling equipment as needed.
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role, preferably within a school or educational setting.
* Strong practical skills in DIY, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with a proactive approach to ensuring a safe environment.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for school events.
