These works involve significant engineering deliverables at multiple sites across the SPD territory. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the high-level planning and network design of the deliverables associated with these projects. It is expected that the successful applicant will support the District Head of Planning and Network Investment (HOPNI) by contributing to the Investment plans and designs that will deliver the District’s ED2 contract. Plans and designs must be produced in line with best practise, to a high standard of quality and within the required timescales. The role will be based at the Telferton Holuse, Edinburgh office. The successful candidate must be able to visit sites across the Edinburgh and Borders District area. What you'll be doing Support the HOPNI to develop the high-level plan that will deliver the District’s contribution to the ED2 Investment contract. The plan will be constantly updated in line with changing business priorities and delivery performance, so the role-holder must provide innovative and agile solutions to real-world issues. Responsible for production of high-quality electrical network designs that align with the District’s high-level plan. Responsible for the handover of designs to the delivery teams. Responsible for the District level forecasting of key service partners, direct labour and material reservation. Responsible for the delivery of outputs, incentive metrics and milestones in line with business targets. Effectively manage project risk and mitigate the impact of issues that may emerge. Responsible for the correct management and administration of contracts Develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects, with full accountability for project, contractual and financial governance. Responsible for the creation, management, and monitoring of project schedules in MS Project. Drive continual improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business. Make proposals and introduce changes for best project management practice and behaviour across the wider project portfolio.
