As an Electronic Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing compact, high-reliability high-voltage systems for airborne military applications. Position Overview:
The Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for designing high-voltage systems (5-10kV) with a focus on ultra-small volume, versatility, and reliability. Your role as an Electronic Design Engineer will involve specifying design requirements, providing technical documentation, and ensuring adherence to high voltage safety standards. Your contributions will support our mission in various innovative fields including aerospace, defence, and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design circuits and sub-systems to meet customer requirements and ensure a reliable, manufacturable product.
2. Resolve technical issues swiftly and accurately during development, production, and service.
3. Verify circuit and system designs through simulation, practical testing, and environmental testing.
4. Consider regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards in your design work.
5. Manage changes to product build standards post-launch, driven by continuous improvement or regulatory changes.
6. Identify and assess IPR/patent issues and opportunities, driving claims as necessary.
7. Review product market and technology advancements to develop new products or upgrades, working with business leadership.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Expertise in power electronic system design, including switch mode PSU design, PCB design, high-frequency digital and analog circuits, and high-frequency magnetic components.
2. Experience with high voltage (3-10kV) and high power (500W-2kW) systems is ideal.
3. Proficiency in design for reliability (MTBF), electronics encapsulation, and design failure mechanisms analysis (DfMEA/FMECA).
4. Strong understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices.
5. Knowledge of PCB layout tools, manufacturing techniques, and Mathcad.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent practical experience in relevant technologies.
2. Further education or qualifications in electronics or a related discipline.
Security Clearance:
UK essential; full SC clearance required, DV clearance is an advantage.
