Description Please note, this role can be based out of our Holborn or Coventry Store Support Centre & Home. You will need to have flexibility to be in our Holborn office 1-2 days per week. This role will proactively business partner with the Business Protection team and Retail leadership team across Sainsbury's and Argos, providing insightful analysis, challenge and influence to drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line. Leading a team of 3 x Finance Analysts you will provide support and challenge, working cross-functionally with business Stakeholders to deliver well-constructed business cases and post-investment reviews. You'll then support in the subsequent tracking and delivery of financial benefits. More about the role Act as key Finance Business Partner for the Business Protection team interpreting management reporting to provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders and providing challenge to the business Hold the business to account for P&L performance, identifying areas for value creation and building action plans that are put into place Lead specific areas of analysis both pre and post implementation to ensure the best capital investments take place Ensure close alignment between multiple stakeholders by delivering clear and robust analysis in a timely manner in line with initiatives and plans across the business With your team, support the business in identifying risks, anomalies and opportunities. Take the lead in prioritising these and work with the business to manage them Challenge the business on existing strategic initiatives and identify new strategic opportunities, helping them to prioritise appropriately Develop a robust corporate and channel budget that sets realistic but challenging targets and deliver the key messages to a variety of stakeholders. Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis and reporting for the business area as required to drive improvements Support the design of reporting, ensuring it is fit for purpose, streamlined and aligns to that prepared for the other Retail cost lines Success in this role will mean delivering timely, robust, and accurate analysis that enables the business to make decisions that enhance performance across Store Operating Profit and EBIT More about you Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) Provide inspirational leadership and direction for the team of 3 and have a real passion for helping others achieve their full potential Allocation and prioritisation of team resources & activity Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance Effective communicator, influencer and challenger with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight A proven track record of financial control, but also the ability to develop and maintain such an environment High levels of pace, energy and resilience A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently, spotting the areas to focus on and assisting in the decision-making process Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy Comfortable working with ambiguity and ability to present complex information in a simplified manner Proven history of effective prioritisation in line with ROI and strategic importance, and ability to push back when appropriate LI-CE1 Responsibilities We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance.
