Job Title: IT Configuration Manager SC Cleared Location: Corsham Duration: Until 31/03/2025 part time 3 days per week Rate: Up to £700 per day via an approved umbrella company. Overview The IT Configuration and Process Manager is a dual role responsible for overseeing both the configuration management and IT process administration functions within the NSoIT(D) Core Product Team (CPT). This role ensures the integrity and consistency of IT systems and processes, facilitating continuous improvement and alignment with industry best practices. The IT Configuration and Process Manager will work closely with IT teams to develop and implement strategies that enhance operational efficiency, support organizational goals, and ensure compliance with standards. The ideal applicant will be comfortable in both structured and unstructured environments, seeing the bigger picture to deliver the following: Key Responsibilities Configuration Management: Develop and maintain the Configuration Management Plan (CMP). Identify, document, and manage configuration items (CIs) using standardized naming conventions. Maintain a configuration management database (CMDB) with accurate and up-to-date information. Control and track changes to CIs through a systematic change management process. Conduct regular configuration audits and generate status reports. Process Management: Design, implement, and optimize IT processes to ensure they meet organizational needs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in both configuration and process management areas. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends. Identify and implement opportunities for automation and efficiency gains. Develop and maintain IT process documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions. Monitor and analyze IT process performance, identifying areas for improvement. Ensure alignment of IT processes with industry standards such as ITIL. Facilitate process improvement initiatives and manage process change requests. Example processes that should be covered by these would be: Requirements Management Change Management Process Release process Defect Management (Engineering and Testing) Sprint Planning PI Planning Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with IT service management, development, and operations teams to ensure effective configuration and process management. Facilitate communication and coordination among stakeholders involved in configuration and process management. Provide training and support to staff on configuration and process management best practices. Tool Management: Evaluate, implement, and maintain tools for configuration and process management (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy). Ensure effective use of these tools across the organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. ITIL certification or similar is preferred. Strong understanding of configuration management and IT process management principles. Proficiency with configuration and process management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness. Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT configuration management, process management, or a related fieldExperience of: Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS). Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector. Delivering in Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall projects. Large Virtualisation infrastructure environments that operate at scale.
