Job Description:
All normal duties and responsibilities associated with a Salaried GP working within primary care as set by the regulatory and standard setting organisations, including but not limited to the points below. In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, will undertake a variety of duties including:
1. Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and E Consults
2. Triaging, checking and authorising repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries
3. Patient test results, medical reports, and examinations on behalf of the practice
4. Providing health promotion and advice, signposting patients to appropriate services to maximise their health and social functioning and their ability to self-manage their care
Be constantly mindful of the need for the provision of personalised care and population health, including reducing health inequalities and ensure that these are reflected in daily practice. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting patients, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation or external organisations.
Assess the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems taking appropriate action as necessary. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness taking appropriate action as necessary. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using IT systems. Prescribe in accordance with locally agreed or nationally agreed prescribing formulary.
Work in accordance with all relevant clinical guidelines, pathways, and protocols. Responsible for tasks delegated to them, appropriate to their level of In-hours duty doctor sessions; to be agreed. All General Practitioners are expected to participate in continuing professional development, annual GP appraisal, Revalidation, and appropriate peer supervision and to remain up to date on professional developments as required by their professional body. GPs are actively encouraged to take their study leave entitlement in order to support the development needs identified in their PDP and appraisal.
Undertake all requirements to remain on the Medical Performers List. Ensure that they remain up to date with and implement all relevant good clinical practice guidance (e.g. NICE guidance). Work in accordance with all relevant clinical pathways and protocols.
Active engagement with professional development lead, to promote patient safety and quality of service. Participation in a range of clinical governance activities, including clinical audit and such quality improvement activities deemed necessary by external accrediting bodies. Ensure that the requirements of the Care Quality Commission are reflected in his/her day-to-day practice and will maintain and develop the practice's active management of CQC requirements.
