We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to join our IT Enterprise Architecture & Analytics team (EAA). In this role, you will lead our data architecture practice and design NEB’s data integration and advanced analytics solutions. You will collaborate with the head of the EAA team to develop and implement plans for a modern data architecture landscape that meets the business’s flexibility needs. This role requires the ability to adapt to and learn innovative technologies as needed to meet business requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Perform data architecture assessments to evaluate and make improvements that better align with business goals and strategies.
2. Define the flow and treatment of data across Enterprise Business Systems, Operational Data Stores and Lakehouse Data Ecosystem.
3. Develop policies, standards and guidelines for NEB data capability and frameworks.
4. Advocate for the use of established patterns in data modeling, standardization, retention, flow, lineage, master data management, metadata management, data quality, and remediation.
5. Manage risks associated with corporate data assets through the development, use and promotion of the appropriate standards and security policies.
6. Architect the appropriate infrastructure for optimal integration of data from our external partners, customers, and amongst our NEB applications.
7. Evaluate the performance and stability of existing data solutions; and design and implement improvements.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
2. 5+ years minimum of demonstrable experience with hybrid cloud/on-premises data ecosystems.
3. 10+ years’ experience in data management, data modeling and data governance practices.
4. Must be able to understand the overall business strategy to ensure components of the data management vision align with those of management and other stakeholders.
5. Experience planning, architecting, and deploying an end-to-end data ecosystem.
6. Skilled in communicating and supporting the data needs of business analysts, data analysts and data scientists.
7. Direct experience deploying end-to-end data environments in the cloud (master data management, metadata management, data warehouse, Lakehouse, integration, quality, and governance).
8. Mentor other data and software engineers in the developing refinements to a complex landscape of Data Integrations (ETL, ELT, API Microservices).
9. Skilled in developing of data models (conceptual, logical, physical) that appropriately support BI and Advanced Analytics needs (One big table, star schema, feature stores).
10. Strong technical documentation and technical writing skills.
11. A continuous improver and self-driven learner.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
1. Experience with global deployments of Salesforce, SAP, or other major enterprise business solutions as a data SME strongly preferred.
2. Ideally possess experience with Azure IaaS, Azure Data Factory, Azure API Management, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Tableau, Power BI, or other similar solutions.
3. Life sciences experience is a plus but not required.
