Job Specification: Head of Finance
Location: Based in our Manchester offices
About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Head of Finance who is ready to take on the challenge of driving financial excellence in a high-growth business. This role offers a clear pathway to becoming Finance Director (FD) within 12 months for the right candidate who demonstrates exceptional leadership and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Operations: Conduct daily safeguarding reconciliations to ensure accurate settlement of funds from acquirers and merchants. Oversee partner settlements and manage safeguarding accounts.
2. Accounting and Reporting: Manage weekly profit calculations and scrape funds as required. Reconcile expenses weekly and monthly, ensuring accuracy and transparency. Produce monthly board packs and deliver financial insights to stakeholders.
3. Performance and Analysis: Conduct monthly merchant and business analyses, including profitability margins, risk evaluations, and optimisation opportunities. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including CAC, LTV, churn, and provide actionable insights for improvement. Lead monthly budgeting and forecasting to align with the company’s growth strategy.
4. Compliance and Risk Management: Prepare and file quarterly FCA and MFSA financial reports. Analyse merchant onboarding risks and implement measures to mitigate financial exposure. Source and implement insurance products tailored to business needs.
5. Team and Partner Management: Calculate and manage monthly partner and team commissions. Support payroll processes and expense management systems.
6. Strategic Leadership: Collaborate on long-term financial strategies to support growth and scaling. Drive performance tracking and optimisation efforts across departments. Prepare to take on Finance Director responsibilities, including fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements
1. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent), with strong financial control experience in a fast-paced environment.
2. Proven track record in reconciliation, reporting, and financial analysis.
3. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software systems.
4. Analytical mindset, with a focus on optimisation and driving results.
5. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present to the board and other senior stakeholders.
