Health Care Assistant, Band 2, up to 30 hours per week
will be based on Aspen ward once the internal rotation takes place.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on Maple A at the Cumberland infirmary. Maple A is a general surgical ward specialising particularly in Vascular, ENT, Maxfax and Urology.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work in support of the registered nursing team in providing the fundamentals of care for our patients. You will be expected to undertake the Care Certificate to enhance your knowledge and the care that you provide.
The role requires staff to work days, nights and weekends.
The essential criteria for this role includes the requirement to have a care certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake this.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction process.
* oNVQ 2 in care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent experience
Experience
* Work in customer focused / caring environment.
* NHS Employment
* Use of a computer
Knowledge
* Ability to maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to ensure high standards of patient care
* Ability to carry out routine elements of assessment to enhance the patient / client journey, following an initial assessment by a registered practitioner
* Ability to meet basic care needs of patients, washing dressing, assistance with feeding etc.
* Understanding of confidentiality
* Nursing policies and procedures.
