The Opportunity
Due to increased expansion, our client, a leading nuclear consultant, is looking to bring in a commissioning manager to manage all pre-commissioning planning, compliance, and activities for one of the largest projects in Europe.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
1. Accountable to the Pre-Operations Safety Case Lead.
2. Develop safety case and operational documentation relating to commissioning and future operational activities, ensuring that lessons from each phase are incorporated into future processes.
3. Review strategy documents, providing insights and advice into their accuracy and achievability.
4. Contribute to cross-functional benchmarking exercises within pre-operations and across the wider HPC organisation.
5. Support the development of nuclear safety-related training that ensures compliance with the nuclear site licence and the organisational requirements at each phase of the project. This will include the provision of advice on the scope of emergency scheme roles as well as normal operation.
6. Support the development and ongoing maintenance of Operational and Hazard technical specifications, offering safety case advice and expertise.
7. Oversee the implementation of the nuclear safety case, contributing as a key stakeholder in the project.
8. Ensure that the commissioning and operational process adheres to nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements, incorporating international best practices in safety and technical excellence.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
1. Previous experience working in environments with a strong focus on safety and quality.
2. Collaborate well and build effective networks in a diverse team environment.
3. Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to unexpected changes.
4. Strong problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to innovate, think laterally and implement processes.
6. Possesses a growth mindset and demonstrates resilience in learning from setbacks.
7. Proficient oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex information to others.
8. Holds a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
It's great if you also have the following:
1. Previous experience in the nuclear sector.
2. Active clearance.
3. Degree qualified.
The setting for the role:
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise, and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
