The successful candidate in this role will: Lead the Early Years team effectively overseeing the day-to-day running of the department in the absence of the Nursery Manager Support in Early Years classrooms as required, to ensure that correct ratios are followed Ensure staffing is in place adhering to correct ratios on a day-to-day basis Attend relevant training for Early Years to stay up to date with developments and share with staff. Implement any policy changes pertinent to EYFS into whole school policies. Put together and oversee plans for development in collaboration with Nursery Manager Be an Early Years DSL Liaise with parents on a daily basis Run a consistent approach to the setting ensuring all staff feel appreciated Oversee the planning of the Early Years curriculum Ensure that the setting is left tidy at the end of the day and at the end of each half term by advising staff as to what is expected of them Ensure that the setting is left secure at the end of the day e.g. windows and doors locked and lights turned off Put together a termly rota of washing of toys within the setting Ensure that all school policies are followed and that mobile phones are not used within the setting Maintain a welcoming environment for the children and assist in being responsible for their day-to-day pastoral care Lead the staff in all areas of planning and assessment for Early Years Supervise in the playground and ensure that correct ratios are adhered to at all times Serve and support Early Years children at lunchtime and ensure that all staff do the same Administer first aid Assist on school visits and outings, oversee the planning of these trips and the necessary documentation that is required Support the Early Years on ‘public’ occasions e.g. Open Mornings Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the department Support and promote the interests of the department and pupils at all times Liaise with parents to improve understanding of the school curriculum and to provide a welcoming environment for both them and their children
