Job Role: Remote based Linux Systems Engineer
Location: Remote – Work From Home
Salary: Up to £50,000 plus an excellent benefits package

Chapman Tate Associates seeks a Linux Technical Consultant to join this established technology house that delivers a range of AI, ML, and HPC solutions to a variety of businesses within the higher education, scientific, research and development, and enterprise sectors.
This is a new role owing to recent success and growth for their diverse portfolio of products and services.
You will be responsible for optimizing, managing, and scaling high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Being the backbone of their computational infrastructure, powering supercomputing clusters for seamless performance, reliability, and scalability.
2. Designing, deploying, and maintaining HPC clusters for optimal performance and resource utilization.
3. Implementing monitoring solutions to identify and address potential issues proactively.
4. Collaborating with researchers, engineers, and developers to optimize application performance and parallel computing efficiency.
5. Troubleshooting and resolving system, network, and software problems to keep operations running smoothly.
6. Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with industry standards.
7. Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in HPC, Linux, and virtualization technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Technical and soft skills needed will include:
1. Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
2. Experience with HPC technologies such as Slurm, Torque, OpenMPI, GPFS, Lustre, etc.
3. Strong networking skills, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall management.
4. Familiarity with monitoring and performance tuning tools.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
6. Strong communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts clearly.
Any experience of the below will be nice to haves:
1. Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
