PATIENT CARE ADVISOR – 37 hours

SALARY SCALE 24,647 - £26,763 PER ANNUM
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Links Medical Centre as we are currently seeking a Patient Care Advisor to provide a welcoming reception service in person and on the telephone.
You will be a team-player who is conscientious, flexible, with excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, as well as a sense of humour. You should have outstanding organisational skills, as well as plenty of initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, be self-motivated and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
You will be expected to deal with the general public face to face and sometimes in challenging situations. A sympathetic approach to the needs of our patient group is essential alongside a professional manner when dealing with a wide variety of disciplines at all levels. You should have the ability to prioritize your work, with a good understanding of current computer systems being essential.
You must be prepared to work within the practice opening hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Previous experience in Primary Care preferred but not essential if you possess the relevant skills and have an active interest in working in a public facing role within a healthcare environment.
Duties will include:
Using your judgement, resourcefulness, common sense, and local knowledge within defined parameters to respond to patient’s enquiries, particularly in assessing the degree of urgency of the patient’s requests.
Responding to patient enquiries and providing relevant information relating to their appointment/services.
Communicating with patients, other services, and members of multidisciplinary teams, using tact and diplomacy, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
Answering the practice telephones, actively listening to patient’s issues or medical problems, and signposting them appropriately according to practice policies and procedures.
Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Primary Care Team, Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager.
To support you in your work you will have the opportunity to engage in regular one to one support and annual appraisal with the Practice Manager or Assistant Practice Manager.
