Hastings Borough Council is looking for a dedicated and detail orientated Housing Benefit Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing housing benefits and Council Tax Reduction claims, ensuring that residents receive the support they need efficiently and accurately. You will work closely colleagues, customers, and external agencies to provide high -quality service inline with government regulations and Councils policies. Key Responsibilities Assess and process housing benefit and Council Tax reduction claims in accordance with legislation. Liaise with claimants, landlords, and other stakeholders to verify information and resolve queries. Provide advice and guidance to residents regarding benefits and entitlements. Maintain accurate record and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. Assist in identifying and preventing fraudulent claims. Stay up to date with changes in benefits legislations and Council Procedures. About you The ideal candidate will have: Experience in housing benefits administration. Strong numerical and analytical skills attention to details Excellent communication and customer service skills The ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Relevant housing benefits legislation Competency in using IT system for data entry and case management.
