About the Role As an SEN Teacher, you'll lead a KS2 class of 6 pupils with complex sensory and behavioural needs. Your role will include: Planning and delivering creative, sensory-based lessons tailored to pupils working within EYFS levels 3-6 (equivalent to P4-P7). Using alternative communication tools such as PECS, core boards, and TouchChat to help verbal and non-verbal pupils express themselves. Working closely with 4 experienced teaching assistants to provide tailored support to each pupil. Managing challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, creating a positive and secure learning environment. Supporting pupils' medical, sensory, and behavioural needs with care and professionalism. Encouraging independence and ensuring learning is both age-appropriate and engaging for each child. What You'll Need To succeed as an SEN Teacher in this role, you must have: Essential Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - applications without QTS cannot be considered. Experience teaching children with severe or profound learning difficulties (SLD) or other complex SEN needs. A calm and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviours. Familiarity with alternative communication methods, such as PECS, core boards, or TouchChat. Team Teach certification (or willingness to obtain it).
