Without them, we would not be able to provide the best care and support to our young people. Working for our organisation
Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old who have been discharged from psychiatric inpatient stays or secure children’s homes. The young people we care for often require a high level of support and a dynamic approach to risk management in order to support problems they may have with self-harming, behaviour and emotional regulation. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to live in a non-secure community setting and to achieve their individual goals in preparation for transition to adult life.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
At Care in Mind, our homes are always a hub of activity and energy where the young people can feel safe, and our staff enjoy coming to work. Your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in a homely environment.
Maplehurst is a 5 bedded residential home for young people with diagnosed eating disorders, and other mental health needs. You will be working within the home, alongside a specialist residential team, and be a part of the dietetic team (Dietician, Dietetic Assistant/Support worker, 2 x residential cooks).
Your role will involve cooking and preparing meals for our young people with complex and challenging eating disorders. While some experience of working as a cook is desirable, full training will be given to those applicants who can cook and have a real desire to produce nutritional balanced meals with a passion for producing good food.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive residential service. You will work closely with both the residential staff, Chef and the dietetics team. Your role will involve planning and preparing quality meals for our young people, following strict meal plans, and ensuring correct portioning, labelling, and packaging of food items. You will also support all aspects of stock control, including ordering stock and receiving goods. As our young people work towards their own recovery, you will be flexible and compassionate, helping them to build their skills whilst their independence is promoted through cooking and baking classes facilitated by the dietetics team. This is a role where you will gain immense job satisfaction knowing you are having a real impact on the recovery of our young people.
