As a GIS Assistant at HS2 you will be report to the GIS Senior Manager and support in the form of GIS data analysis, management, and all related activities. The role requires strong GIS skills across many disciplines for design, construction, operations, and maintenance. You will be working within the Digital Engineering team supporting delivery functions and interfacing with suppliers across information types (graphical, non-graphical and geospatial). The role will be a specialist in GIS methods covering data production, content publishing, analysis, and data quality & assurance processes. About the role: • Assist with the management of data exchanges of suppliers within the HS2 Common Data Environment, with particular focus on GIS data. • Assist with reporting data quality issues and analysis of root causes to the Digital Engineering Team, HS2 Delivery Teams and Suppliers, with particular focus on GIS data. • Complies with Digital Engineering standards, specifications, and operating procedures within HS2 and Suppliers. • Assist with the configuration and development of the enterprise GIS environment. • Deliver training and support to relevant HS2 business functions, Delivery Teams and our Suppliers regarding HS2 standards, specifications, tools, and operating procedures. • Contribute to the delivery of the HS2’s Common Data Environment, Digital Engineering integrations and governance of information, with a particular focus on GIS data. • Contribute, to undertake transformation of data for other functional uses within HS2 and facilitating appropriate data assurance and approval by others. • Contribute to the delivery of the Digital Engineering programme. This could include but is not limited to, benefits realisation, integration and evolution of data standards and tools, and raising awareness of HS2’s Digital Engineering strategic goals within HS2, Supply Chain and external stakeholders. About You: Skills: • Software skills: • ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise experience, • Portal for ArcGIS/ArcGIS Online, • Safe FME, • VertiGIS (preferably). • GIS data automations, transformation, and conversions. • Web-based GIS analysis, configuration, and management. • Data specialism in GIS data analysis and modelling. • Stakeholder management. • Critical thinking and analysis. Knowledge: • Knowledge of GIS and its application. • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise. • Knowledge of Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes. • Knowledge of web-based GIS platforms. • Knowledge of data quality techniques and data assurance processes. • Knowledge of stakeholder engagement. • Awareness of BIM Processes as outlined in ISO19650 and related industry standards. • Knowledge of Automation (Scripts and processes). • Awareness of Data Interoperability. • Awareness Data Protection and Security. • Awareness of Information governance. • Awareness of Linear Assets and end state Asset Management. • Awareness of Data Integration, Analytics and Visualisation. • Awareness of Data Specialism: CAD data management. • Awareness of Data Specialism: Asset information management. Types of Experience • Data management, and data quality & assurance experience throughout the entire project lifecycle. • Experience of working with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise to configure tooling to solve business problems and deliver better decision-making. • Experience of raising awareness of Digital Engineering, delivering briefing sessions and providing support throughout an organisation and its supply chain. • Experience of working within set standards, processes, and systems but with an expectation to contribute to process improvement.
