World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings.
We have a Centre of Excellence and Innovation in Witney for the manufacture of test strips and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The Operations group is the largest team in the Witney facility, producing high volumes of test strips and biosensors each year to the stringent quality standards demanded by European and US authorities and our internal quality systems.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Manufacturing workstream in the role of Team Lead / Team Manager, a group of leaders collectively accountable for managing all aspects of the operation of the Manufacturing Unit. This position is covering a shift pattern of Monday to Friday, rotating early and late shift.
The Team Lead/Manager is expected to ensure activities are performed in the manner that supports a Manufacturing Centre of Excellence, Good Manufacturing Practice, and best in class working practices. Responsibilities will include:
1. Manage and develop a team of employees and leaders within area of responsibility and be accountable for their performance whilst providing direction to ensure product availability, maintaining regulatory compliance and optimising productivity.
2. Deliver quality and compliant product on time, in full and cost effectively to meet the needs of the business and customers, in a manner that supports core values and behaviours of the UK Operational Excellence ideals, and a culture of continuous improvement
3. Facilitate optimisation of the production area by directing support staff e.g. leads, Engineering, Schedulers, QA and technical
4. Monitor on a regular basis and be responsible for the overall quality of the product and documentation produced by the Manufacturing Unit
5. Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and Abbott standards by adhering to and maintaining EHS systems, programmes, procedures that manage EHS risk and by demonstrating leadership and commitment through actions and provision of sufficient resources.
6. Support and drive rapid and compliant transfer/start up of new products and processes in the Manufacturing Unit.
Driving ownership and accountability in your team, your focus will be on supporting the ongoing development of both process and people, managing strategic relationships both internally and externally, collating and reporting departmental metrics, and delivering business critical activities.
To be successful, you will need to have completed Secondary Level education, and be able to demonstrate exposure to Operations/Manufacturing environments (including working knowledge of GMP, Technical, and Quality requirements), ideally within a regulated environment.
You will be a natural people leader, with proven experience in 2nd line management (including strategy, resource planning, financials etc, as a preference).
