Job Title: Section Engineer

Balfour Beatty - Vinci are looking for a Section Engineer to join them for a 12 Month contract, which has the potential to extend for up to a further 2 years.
This will be to work on an exciting Multi Million pound project. We are looking for a Section Engineer who is hands on and has experience full time onsite, who can provide guidance to others in the team.
A Section Engineer at Balfour Beatty plays a pivotal role in managing and executing specific sections of large-scale civil engineering projects. This position involves leading a team of engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of Site Engineers and Graduate/Apprentice Engineers, ensuring clarity in task assignments and adherence to project goals.
Project Execution: Oversee complex setting out tasks, develop and manage Activity Control Plans, and ensure all construction activities align with project specifications and quality standards.
Safety and Compliance: Implement and monitor safety protocols, conduct site inspections, and ensure all operations comply with current health and safety legislation.
Quality Control: Maintain accurate quality records, manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and address Technical Queries with effective solutions.
Planning and Coordination: Develop weekly programs, track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs), and communicate targets and achievements to the workforce.
Resource Management: Monitor labor and plant resources, conduct reconciliations, and ensure subcontractor and supplier terms are met effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background: A relevant engineering degree (HNC, HND, BEng, or MEng) and professional qualifications are desirable but also Experience in a similar position is essential.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in setting out techniques, understanding of construction tolerances, and familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software for processing survey information.
Health and Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of current health and safety legislation, with qualifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in civil engineering projects, particularly in areas like earthworks, drainage, pavement, structures, and roadworks.
