We have an exciting opportunity for you to apply for a ward manager at Yeovil District Hospital. We are looking for a motivated and inspirational leader for ward 9B which is our Acute dual speciality ward for Endocrine and Care of the Elderly.
As a ward manager, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic nursing team, working alongside a multidisciplinary team providing patient-centred care. You will support best practice tariffs and provide assurance of high-quality standards. There is an expectation that hours of work are worked flexibly over a rota basis which will include lates and weekends as part of the senior nurse rota. You will require excellent communication skills, a teamwork approach, and be able to deliver excellent patient care with your team.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
As a ward manager, you will be leading and coordinating the clinical, managerial, and educational requirements of your clinical area, ensuring staff are up to date with mandatory training, career conversations, and providing development opportunities.
Maintaining and monitoring standards of care that ensure patient safety and a high quality of patient-centred care through audits and governance. This will include learning from incidents and complaints and adopting a PSIRF approach to resolutions.
Being visible and continually role modelling for your team, you will be involved with direct patient care and patient engagement rounds. Working within agreed KPIs, participating in Quality Improvement, and leading on change are key aspects of this role.
You will also partake in the senior nurse role for daily staffing across the service group and a late shift to support the weekend rotas which provides senior support to the wards out of hours.

Job description
This position will be based at Yeovil District Hospital but there may be occasions where you will need to achieve cross-site working with Musgrove Park Hospital. Collaborative working is being utilised across both sites to improve system and protocol working to enhance our patient care services. Working within specialty groups helps to improve the service provided for a better patient experience.

Has a degree or shows evidence of currently working towards a degree
Teaching, Mentoring, or coaching qualification or course equivalent attended

Leadership course or Bronze QI

9 months experience as a Band 6 deputy manager or a position equivalent that includes management of staff
