Responsibilities
* Delivery of technical project work in several consultancy services, including Part L compliance, energy strategy, residential overheating, non-domestic thermal comfort, passive design analysis.
* Delivery of technical project work on wider sustainability services as required by the company.
* Maintaining awareness and technical knowledge of legislation, policies and regulations relevant to the role including the Building Regulations, national and local planning policy, industry codes, standards and guidelines and the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
* Support training and development of junior staff in key service areas.
* Demonstrate ‘expert’ status in at least two service areas, as defined in the company Skills and Grade Matrices.
* Attend, lead and participate in the delivery of project meetings and workshops as required (both internal and external).
* Apply a range of problem-solving skills to enable the successful delivery of project work.
* Strong report writing and presentation skills.
* Lead and develop services using creative and strategic thinking skills.
* Undertake research as required in the delivery of technical services.
Project Management
* Use your organisational skills to effectively plan and deliver work on time, budget and to meet client requirements.
* Lead your own multi-disciplinary projects and support other project managers as a member of their project team.
* Effective use of internal project management systems and software.
* Time management, including effective communication with colleagues, use of internal reporting systems and forward planning to achieve target recoverability.
* Ensuring the necessary information needed for project work and/or technical reports is collected, reviewed, and understood, including learning and applying the effective use of client document sharing portals.
Business Development and Client Relationships
* Direct communication with clients and other consultants on active projects.
* Expand the Energy, Overheating and Thermal Comfort service offering with the Head of Service.
* Preparation of complex fee proposals.
* Learn and develop knowledge of wider company services.
* Learn delivery of client-facing business development meetings, training and presentations appropriate to the role through shadowing and/or supported delivery.
Management & Personal Development
* Targeted training against service requirements (on the job and/or external training as required).
* Undertake CDM Designer Training and development of awareness of health and safety issues.
* Record and document training to begin professional institution membership process.
* Work towards, or maintain, full membership and Chartership through an appropriate professional institution.
* Continually develop and demonstrate competence to work on Higher Risk Buildings as defined by the Building Safety Act.
