Main duties of the job
18 MONTH ROTATIONAL POST
Are you a qualified Band 5 nurse or a student nurse soon to qualify? Would you like support to equip you with the skills required to meet the demands of clinical practice? At CNWL's Health & Justice Directorate we can offer you a preceptorship programme, a bespoke Band 5 development programme, mentoring and ongoing professional development, a defined career pathway and access to education support and development in addition to a wide range of clinical experience.
Our rotational programme spans over 18 months and each 6 month assignment offers you exposure to a specific patient cohort and area of practice within Health & Justice, for example, a community forensic team, low secure inpatient services, a number of prisons and a secure school. The programme is flexible and you get to work in diverse and exciting areas.
You will be guaranteed a band 5 post at the end of the programme.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Registered (NMC) Nurse Mental Health or General Adult/child.
* Numeracy skills required for safe administration of medicines.
* Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development.
Previous Experience
* You need previous experience of working in the community / mental health services either as a band 5 nurse, a student nurse or health care assistant.
Skills & Knowledge
* Able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team, present cases, take note of actions, update others in the team and use handover effectively in person both face to face and over the telephone and in writing.
* Maintaining accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records, both electronic and handwritten, which adhere to the CNWL policies.
* Able to talk to people about sensitive issues in a supportive manner but also challenge others assertively where necessary.
* Able to maintain electronic patient records and use Microsoft Word for letter and report writing.
* You are expected to have the skills required to act as a professional, registered nurse and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct. These will vary from service area to service area.
* Care planning: being able to assess patients, develop, implement and evaluate a care plan.
* Partnership working Safeguarding and advocacy - Understanding how the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards impacts on their work and the people they are working with.
* Understanding the concept of quality and their role in improving safety, clinical outcomes and the patient experience.
* Adherence to infection control guidelines including the Aseptic Non Touch Technique.
* Administration and management of Medicines.
* Work well with other members of the team and help others in the team. Contribute to the culture of the team and play a role in making it inclusive.
* Mentor, teach and support others in the team. Supervise others in the team.
