GC Analyst/ Laboratory Analyst

Hours: Days, Monday - Friday (onsite/ lab based)
Location: Bedfordshire
Our client, a major national testing company, is looking to recruit an experienced GC Analyst who will work at their new facility in Bedford. This is an exciting time to join this company as they experience a period of growth.
The Role:
1. Follow established procedures to perform trace organic analysis on a wide range of samples/matrices.
2. Operate primary assigned instrumentation within the GC section.
3. Process and interpret analytical results for entry onto LIMS.
4. Apply correct QC requirements for analyses.
5. Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
6. Maintain accurate data records.
7. Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy.
8. Follow company Quality Policy.
9. Raise QC queries and non-conforming work as needed.
10. Prepare samples, solutions, and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
11. Work with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to customer requirements.
The Person:
1. BSc in Chemistry or closely related subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
2. Experience working within an analytical testing laboratory, operating GC-MS and/or GC-MS/MS instrumentation, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
3. Sample preparation techniques e.g. liquid: liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, etc.
4. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
