Job Summary
This is a role focused on providing a specialist comprehensive high-quality operational service to all medical staff within the Trust, ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures and adhering to the National Terms and Conditions of Service.
The post holder will be expected to provide clear and consistent advice to managers and medical staff on all aspects of the employment relationship and to establish and maintain strong communication and effective working relations with Doctors and Clinicians within all departments.
The successful applicant will be required to assess and recommend courses of action on highly complex, specialist medical workforce issues and both participate and contribute in driving forward high levels of performance, engagement, and productivity in line with key priorities.
They will be required to work with colleagues within the wider People team and across the Trust to ensure that the medical workforce is well managed in a way that is efficient and promotes staff satisfaction and high-quality clinical care.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Provide line-managers and staff with highly specialised, professional, comprehensive, and timely workforce advice and support on complex, sensitive, and contentious staffing issues including, but not confined to, employee relations matters, such as sickness management, performance management, grievance, harassment and bullying, disciplinary issues, management of change, and TUPE.
2. Work alongside the Clinical Director, leads, and their teams in identifying workforce issues and developing appropriate business-focused workforce interventions; developing the people capability to support business planning.
3. Manage complex cases, give complex advice, and make judgments based on employment legislation, organisational precedent, and best practice approaches. Ensure relevant advice is consistent with Maintaining High Professional Standards and involvement as necessary with the PPA and the GMC Advisory service.
4. Prepare reports and analyse workforce data to identify trends, inform plans and to identify corrective action necessary.
5. Advise on particularly complex, sensitive or high-risk cases, where expert workforce advice is required, with an options appraisal and risk assessment of possible courses of action.
